Frequently Asked Questions:

  • 1. Why should I sleep in a bra?
    • Most bra companies will advise that their bras not be worn to bed. Certainly, traditional constrictive bras with underwire should not! However our clients need the breast area supported so incisions can heal, and healing takes place more rapidly during sleep. It makes sense to keep the area supported and moisture-free during sleep. The patented pillow insert technology provides a cushion so the weight of the breast will not cause strain on the incision.
  • 2. Why is moisture-wicking fabric important?
    • Keeping moisture away from any surgical site is important as bacteria love to grow in a moist, warm environment. The Embrace Bra wicks body moisture away, invisibly and evenly. Not only will you feel cooler and drier, you will be keeping your surgical site free of unwanted moisture and let your body get on with healing.
  • 3. Is my Embrace Bra washable?
    • It certainly is! Our testing team washed the Embrace Bra continuously over three months, using hospital washing methods that would be harsher than you would use at home, with no visible deterioration in the fabrics or the elastics. Ideally, the Embrace Bra should be washed by hand to ensure a long wearing life, but we also recognize that real life often demands time-saving efficiencies, so don’t be afraid to use the gentle cycle on the washing machine. We do highly recommend air drying. You will find that the Embrace Bra takes about one half-hour to dry because of the Tactel® fabric’s natural wicking properties. Drying any bra in the dryer will shorten the life of the latex-free elastics.
  • 4. Why doesn’t the Embrace Bra come in more colors?
    • Originally produced in white, our hospitals and clinics told us that women were wearing the Embrace Bra long after their surgeries had healed as they found it more comfortable, supportive and non-constrictive than their traditional bras. We decided to produce the bra with a pink lace overlay, and in 2009 we added the beige color to our line. This makes the Embrace Bra invisible under clothing as the beige is close to skin tones. Will we add even more colors? Only your feedback will tell!
  • 5. Why would you add lace to a recovery bra?
    • Some of our clients wear the Embrace Bra for many weeks, while their surgeries heal. Some wear the bra for many months afterward because of its comfort in their everyday life. We wanted to give women a bra that was still feminine and pretty. We found a lace that is as durable as the Embrace Bra itself, so you won’t be giving up a chance to be pretty and feminine while you heal.
